Did Captain Pierce turn the Newcastle season around?

After an impressive victory over Canberra, the Newcastle Knights suffered a terrible loss 36-18 to the Wests Tigers to start the Magic Round in Brisbane.

The Wests have had three wins this season, two of them against Newcastle, sometimes because they got the Knights to pay for fouls.

The Tigers fled with the game and the moment Tommy Talao scored his attempt, the game was set. Well done, West.

Jayden Brailey and Daniel Safety were good knights captain but Mitchell Pierce as captain showed leadership most of the time, even when he lost the knights.

I’m not saying Brailey and Saifiti didn’t, but they need to take the passenger seat and let Pearce take the wheel. Perhaps they should even take notes from him as a leader.

These strikes are totally unacceptable. The Musketeers have the half NSW attacking pack that won the 2019 Series, the last half-back to win the Blues, the famous Queensland player like Caleen Bunga and more future reps like Bradman Best, Connor Watson and Mitchell Barnett even Jayden Braille can be there.

The following four musketeers won’t be easy: North Queensland, Manley, Parramatta, and South Sydney. Knights need to win all these games.

On paper, the knights could conquer West even without bonga but the knights threw it away. Knights cannot use any other excuses, such as not having pierce.

The Musketeers defeated Canberra last week with a pair of halves who had never previously collaborated or played representative football, and were pitted against the DalΓ M medalist and the English midfielder. Let’s not forget the Knights were late 16-0 in the second half.

We all know why Pierce had to relinquish the captain and there’s no point in talking about that. Let the past be the past.

Mitchell Pierce showed his heart belonged to the Musketeers after admitting that he would love to be a player in one club with the Roosters. Newcastle became his home and the Knights became his team, so let him lead it.

Fans of knights cannot quit their team and if knights have already changed their season to win, Musketeers can still reach the finals. Mitchell Pierce’s leadership is crucial from the moment he returns and the knights cannot take it for granted again.

Do warriors think Mitchell Pierce should get the Knights Captain back?
