Bloomberg – Walt Disney World in Orlando has stopped requiring vaccinations for its actors and employees, according to a local TV report. A spokesperson for the resort complex declined to comment on the specific changes to its vaccine mandate, which was the first reported by Fox 35 in Orlando.
“We believe that our strategy for mandatory vaccines has been the right one as we have continued to focus on the safety and well-being of our participating members and guests,” the spokesman said in an email. “By this time, more than 90 percent of active Florida-based participating members have already verified that they are fully vaccinated.”
Those who are not vaccinated will need to wear face masks and exercise social distancing, Fox 35 reported.
The decision comes just days after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation that would limit employers’ mandates for the Covid vaccine. DeSantis has been strongly opposed to vaccine and worm mandates throughout the pandemic.
Nick Catuano, an actor at Disney World, told Fox 35 that he and other actors received an internal memo informing them of the break. The memo, which Fox 35 said they had received a copy of, said the break will apply when Disney World evaluates new state laws.
