In a heated exchange over social media, former President Donald Trump lashed out after a video surfaced showing empty seats at his rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
the video, posted on Xprevious Chirpof the Democratic presidential candidate’s campaign account Kamala Harris@KamalaHQ, claimed Trump’s audience walked away as he “strolled incoherently” leaving the venue partially empty.
The video shows people leaving a section of the auditorium along the side of the Trump rally that has many empty seats. The episode appears to be behind the scenes. A muffled Trump can be heard speaking in the background.
The video had the caption: “Trump’s crowd thrills as he rambles through Pennsylvania, leaving even more empty seats.” It had been viewed 4.8 million times by Sunday.
Trump made his way to his platformTruth Social, on Sunday afternoon to dismiss the authenticity of the video.
He claimed the photos were taken before the rally started and that the venue was in fact packed, with thousands more supporters turned away due to lack of space.
Trump accused Harris of spreading misinformation, labeling her a “Crooked Radical Left Politician” and linking her to a broader conspiracy to impeach the president Joe Bidenwhich he claimed involved other notables democrats.
“We had to turn away tons of people yesterday in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania,” Trump wrote. “Comrade Kamala Harris’ social media activity showed empty seats, well before the rally started, in the early afternoon when in fact we had to turn away 11,500 people!”
The back and forth didn’t end there. Late Sunday night, Harris campaign account shot backand claimed the video was recorded while Trump was speaking.
“Americans are tired of your lies and filth-filled delusions,” the account wrote. “It’s getting… old.”
This is a development story.
