“I know Tommy will work it to death.”
Drew Bledsoe has been busy this summer when it comes to landing jabs and roasting his former Patriots teammate in Tom Brady.
The former Patriots QB (who was replaced by Brady as New England’s signal caller during the 2001 season) had much fun at Brady’s expense during the latter’s Netflix roast in May — while getting a few laughs for calling his former teammate the “worst running back in NFL history” during Brady’s Patriots Hall of Fame induction in June.
Of course, all of Bledose’s jokes have been funny — with the former No. 1 overall pick once again taking a swipe at Brady during an interview on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” on Wednesday.
“I know Tommy is going to work himself to death,” Bledsoe said when asked about Brady’s upcoming role as Fox’s lead NFL broadcast analyst. “I’m going to get a little tired of his squeaky voice, but I know he’s going to do a great job calling the game.”
At this point, Bledsoe is no stranger to joking about the player who replaced him in Foxborough. Bledsoe, now 52, was asked about participating in Brady’s Netflix roast, noting that he wasn’t the one stressing over his script leading up to the special.
“It was probably the most prepared I’ve been in public just because I had to go through it with my wife and kids because they were so nervous,” Bledsoe said. “My kids called me individually and said, ‘Okay, Dad, what are you going to say?’ because they were so nervous. “All I hear from you is bad dad jokes and super inappropriate stuff at inappropriate times.”
Brady officially begins his broadcasting career on Fox on September 8 when the Dallas Cowboys open their season against the Cleveland Browns.
