Driver arrested after ‘car crashed into Cambs’ home’

Cambridgeshire Police responded to an accident involving a lamppost and a house last night (21 November).

Police were called at 7:46 p.m. after reports of the crash on Church Street, Histon.

Authorities said the Volkswagen Golf driver left the scene after crashing into a lamppost and a house.

The driver was found nearby last night.

A 38-year-old Cambridge man was arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance, driving without a license, driving a motor vehicle without his consent, and being unable to drink or use drugs.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “We were contacted yesterday (21 November) at 7:46 pm in Church Street, Histon, where a car had crashed into a lamppost and a house.

“The driver of the Volkswagen Golf left the crash scene, but was nearby.

“A 38-year-old man from Cambridge was arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance, driving without a license, driving a motor vehicle without his consent and incapable of using alcohol or drugs. He is in custody.”
