An off-duty police officer was charged with high-range PCA in Lake Macquarie yesterday.

After reporting that a white Volkswagen Amarok was parked in the middle of the road, officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District joined Palmers Road, Freemans Waterhole at around 11:30 PM (Thursday 25 November 2021).

Citizens helped the car get out of the way by observing the driver standing outside the vehicle.

The driver, an off-duty probationary officer in the Northern Territory, participated in a roadside breath test that tested positive.

The 39-year-old man was arrested and taken to the Toronto Police Station, where he was later found to be 0.218 in breath analysis.

The officer from West Gosford has been given a Notice of Court Participation for high-range PCA driving and will appear in Toronto County Court on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
