Players are served all sorts of great deals throughout the year. It is not uncommon for recently released games to drop as much as 20 percent in the first few months of release or to keep the occasional one-time deal on a controller or headset. May Black Friday and Cyber Monday are something special – a chance to get the best deals of the year at once.
As of 2020, the holidays in 2021 are a bit strange, given the ongoing pandemic and chip shortage. There is no shortage of games and accessories, but fewer consoles are available for first time buyers, which means that the possibilities to get one are very rare and very popular. Some retailers have even taken out subscription fees that give you an enhanced chance of getting a console, but even those are no guarantee.
We separate this roundup by platform, so find the one you are buying from and enjoy the offers. We also have a catch-all guide for you best early Black Friday deals, if you happen to shop early.
Nintendo Switch Deals
There are a shocking amount of great deals on Switch games, and some retailers are offering the same price of $ 40 for physical and digital editions of popular first-party titles. In addition to games, there are notable discounts on games and accessories.
The Backbone One mobile controller can connect to iPhones as far back as the 6S generation through the Lightning port. It’s a fully equipped controller complete with dual analog sticks, a headphone jack, and its own software for taking screenshots and connecting to game streaming services.
PlayStation 5 Deals
While you may not be able to find a PS5 console in time for the holidays (fingers are crossed for you though), you can at least stock games and accessories that usually cost you more than they do now. Keep in mind that all the deals below (with the exception of the digital games from the PlayStation Store) are the disc versions of the games that require the $ 500 PS5 console that has a disk drive. Here are the best deals currently running:
Death Stranding Director’s Cut is $ 40 at Best buys (from $ 50 down)
Xbox Series S and Series X Offers
Compared to PlayStation 4 and 5, Microsoft’s Xbox consoles have less first-party exclusives. But there’s a hidden trick on the Xbox sleeve: all the first party games, for which you can usually pay $ 60 or $ 70, are stopped behind a monthly Game Pass Ultimate subscription (of course, you can still get the full price for games pay if you want). There are still great deals down here, but check out the Game Pass for the full range of what’s available for your Xbox.
What good is an Xbox without games? The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offers more than 100 titles, including Doom, Hades, and the soon-to-be-published Halo infinite, which you can play on multiple devices.
Deals on PC games, so far, have not been as good as we have seen for console games. We are, however, holding on to more deals, and you should expect more to go down through the week.
Some retailers are offering $ 50 gift cards with the 128GB Oculus Quest 2 still selling at its normal price of $ 300. This includes Best buys, Newegg, Amazon (with Offer Code OCULUS 50 at the checkout), Costco, Soul, an an Oculus yourself. Walmart is offering a similar deal, however, instead of a gift card, it includes the zip-up case as a complementary goodie without changing the $ 300 price tag.
This gift card promo, which has happened at several retailers, extends to the $ 400 headset that doubles the storage to 256 GB, which also includes a $ 50 gift card. Just note that you are earning a gift card to the retailer where you purchased the Oculus Quest 2 unless you purchased it directly from Oculus. In that case, you get $ 50 credit to use Player digitally purchased through the Oculus Store.
