OAKLAND — One person was killed and several others were apparently injured in a shooting Thursday night in Oakland, police said.
The shooting happened around 7 p.m. in the 7900 block of Ney Avenue, in the city’s Eastmont Hills neighborhood, according to the Oakland Police Department.
Officers arrived to find one person suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police state that the victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
During an initial investigation, police learned that several people had arrived at area hospitals, according to police. Police did not release information about their injuries.
