Oklahoma executed a man for his role in the 1992 shooting death of a convenience store owner last Thursday.

Emmanuel Littlejohn, 52, was pronounced dead at 10:17 a.m. after receiving a lethal injection at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary, the Associated Press reported.

Littlejohn had watched his mother and daughter, who witnessed the execution, while they were strapped into a gurney and with an IV line in their right arm.

“Mom, are you okay?” Littlejohn asked, according to the AP. “I’m fine,” replied his mother, Ceily Mason.

“Everything is going to be okay. I love you,” he said.

The execution began shortly after 10 a.m. Littlejohn’s breathing became labored before a doctor pronounced him unconscious at 10:07 a.m., the AP reported. He was pronounced dead 10 minutes later.
