As the second wave of the pandemic has hit the country badly, it has become necessary for everyone to get vaccinated to fight the deadly coronavirus. Therefore, to get Bollywood back on track, the Producers Guild of India and the Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA), along with the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), are running vaccination campaigns for the cast. And crew of film units in the coming weeks.
The Producers Guild of India (PGI), the premier association of leading Indian film, television and digital content producers, will launch a vaccination campaign for its members and respective production crew tomorrow. Through these camps, thousands of production house personnel and staff will be vaccinated at the Mahboob Studio on a multi-day campaign starting from 1 June 2021.
It is hoped that this camp will contribute to the national mission of achieving universal immunization and will also facilitate safe shooting and material production. In the new campaign organized by the federation, all workers actively involved in the production process will be vaccinated. The unions collectively aim to vaccinate around 10,000 people, including artists, producers, daily wage earners and freelancers.
The Guild will organize a six-day program from tomorrow at Mehboob Studio in Bandra. Guild Vice President Manish Goswami says they are targeting around 5,000 people. Those already registered on Co-Win can receive their vaccinations at the venue. This devotion is being done in collaboration with Vedanta Hospital, and each jab costs Rs 1,000. The cost will be borne by the respective production house. They can increase the vaccine rollout based on voting.
Leading production houses including Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Rohit Shetty Picture and Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment have come forward to support and join hands with the initiative.
Producers Guild of India President Siddharth Roy Kapur lauded the many contributions that enabled this camp, saying, “An activity of such importance and magnitude cannot be done alone and we are very grateful for the support we have received. Are thankful. make it possible. Especially from our members Excel Entertainment, who played a key role in securing vaccines and Mehboob Productions, who very generously offered complimentary use of the huge Mehboob Studio. We are delighted to be able to provide this facility to our members, their staff and the cast and crew of their production as we work to bring the industry back on its feet in the coming weeks. ”
Apart from this, IFTDA and FWICE will also organize parallel immunization camps for 5,000 members at the Federation office in Andheri in collaboration with Surya Hospital and will start the campaign between 10 to 15 June. The campaign will be organized and funded by Ashok Pandit. President, IFTDA.
In addition to the Andheri and Bandra camps, the federation is also planning to set up another camp in Goregaon Film City after some time. Ashok Pandit also revealed that Yash Raj Films has also come out to support the campaign and has promised to provide funds for 30,000 vaccine shots. And it is also being speculated that the Chief Minister’s Office has sent its approval to carry forward the scheme.
