SAN JOSE — A pair of fires kept San Jose firefighters busy Thursday afternoon and evening.
The the first fire was ignited around 3:40 p.m. in a field near Component Drive and North First Street, according to the San Jose Fire Department.
The fire was put out about two hours later, but not before consuming eight acres, the fire department said. No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.
Just before 7 p.m., a second fire was reported in the 8100 block of Monterey Road, according to the fire department. The fire was under control at 9:15 p.m
The fire damaged a home and two outbuildings and displaced half a dozen residents, the fire department said. No one was injured.
The cause of each fire is under investigation.
