Former Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is scheduled to speak around 7:30 pm Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention where Vice President Kamala Harris will accept her nomination as the party’s presidential nominee.
Elected to four terms, Madigan was the Attorney General of Illinois while Harris was the Attorney General of California from 2011 to 2017.
The DNC’s decision to give Madigan a speaking slot at the DNC was revealed around 5 p.m. when the party released a list of speakers for the convention’s final night. It’s a strange decision by the national party given that Madigan’s father, former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, is facing a federal corruption trial expected to begin in October.
Lisa Madigan has never been named in any of the documents related to the allegations against her father.
