Former President Donald Trump is staying in Chicago overnight after a rally in Michigan earlier Friday, the Illinois Republican Party confirmed to NBC Chicago.
Trump is scheduled to stay at the Trump International Hotel & Tower Friday night before departing for Prairie du Chien, Wis., which is about 150 miles from Chicago near the Wisconsin-Iowa border.
The rally, which was scheduled to be held indoors, was originally planned as an outdoor rally before it was moved due to concerns about US Secret Service personnel, according to a report from Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
The rally comes just days before Trump’s running mate, US Sen. JD Vance, will face Democratic running mate and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz in the lone. vice presidential debate.
Polls continue to show a close battle between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, with the general election set for November 5.
Early voting in several states, including many parts of Illinois, is already underway.
