Police say four Russian tourists were found dead in a seaside resort in western Albania
TIRANA, Albania – Police say four Russian tourists were found dead in a seaside resort in western Albania.
Albanian police issued a statement on Saturday saying the four were found suffocated in a hotel sauna in the village of Qerret late Friday.
The police did not provide more information about the circumstances surrounding the deaths, with reference to the ongoing investigation. They said the entire hotel staff has been questioned.
The Russian tourists, aged 31 to 60, were part of a group that had lived for a week at the five-star resort 50 kilometers west of the Albanian capital Tirana.
Investigators believe that those who died may be members of the same family because of their last names.
Tourism has become a major industry in Albania, a small western Balkan country with 300 km of coastline.
