Parents of the missing woman emotionally request that the daughter return
Missing YouTuber Gabby Petito and her fiancé are said to have argued and beaten each other, according to a Utah police report. The couple, who were on a road trip in Petito’s van, were discovered having a fight in Moab City, Utah on August 12. The police decided that the incident was a “mental breakdown” rather than a domestic assault situation and separated the couple for the night.
On Wednesday, the North Port Police Department in Florida announced that they were treating Petito’s fiancé as a person of interest in their investigation. Petito’s family released a statement asking him to assist police in their search for the woman.
Petito disappeared during a trip with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, who returned without her, which led to a fierce search for the 22-year-old woman that began on September 11.
Laundrie, who lived with Petito in North Port, Florida, has so far refused to cooperate with authorities. The police in the northern harbor will hold a press conference today at 11:30 AM EST to discuss the latest developments in their search for Petito.
Nicole Schmidt, Petito’s mother, said the last time she spoke to her daughter was on August 30, but since it was a text, she can not be sure that she actually spoke to the woman. Before that, the mom and daughter video chatted on August 23 or 24. Ms Schmidt said it was normal for her and her daughter to video chat several times a week. When her daughter did not check in after Laundrie returned early from their trip, she became anxious and eventually the family alerted the police.
