Trying to leave the Jersey Shore after the long holiday weekend? It may take a while.
As of 1:10 p.m., delays and pockets of heavy traffic are causing slowdowns on the northbound Garden State Parkway, from just north of Exit 82A in Toms River to just south of Exit 102 in Tinton Falls, according to 511nj.orgwhich tracks the traffic on the state’s major roads.
This corresponds to a back-up of approximately 20 miles.
INRIX, a transportation data provider, said that at 11am to 8pm today is the worst time to travel by car coming home from the Jersey Shore. Tomorrow is the best time to travel home after 1pm, with the worst times between 8am and 12pm.
