A gunman who barricaded himself in a building near Ohio State University and opened fire on officers is dead after an hours-long standoff, according to reports.
The man is suspected of breaking into a building on the school’s south campus in Columbus, Ohio, Sunday morning around 8 a.m. and firing a gun, urged to call the police.
When authorities arrived, they saw the suspect reloading a gun and then barricaded himself inside the building, according to the WCMH.
At least two exchanges of gunfire between the suspect and police occurred before 9 a.m., but neither was injured.
The suspect was finally pronounced dead at 1:15 p.m., but it is still unclear how he died.
