DIFFERENT generations got the chance to appreciate each other’s musical tastes at a karaoke night in a nursing home in North Yorkshire.
The Thistle Hill nursing home in Knaresborough held the show as part of its ‘Musical Icons’ celebration – where residents and colleagues came to perform and watched their colleagues showcase their party pieces and fancy dress.
A spokesperson for the house said: “It’s always great to organize intergenerational events as everyone learns a lot and sometimes new skills are acquired by both groups.”
In the afternoon, Rochelle Ayris, one of the house’s favorite singers, entertained residents with songs by classical music icons such as Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Doris Day and The Beatles.
One of the residents, Isobel, said she was surprised at how “fantastic” the residents were able to sing.
“Angela had a voice like an angel. It was definitely a talent that he kept quiet,” he added.
Thistle Hill nursing home is managed by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers. Supporting 11,000 people in 200 homes for short breaks and long stays, the firm is committed to providing personalized care in nursing homes and hospitals.
