Despite never starting a Premier League game for Manchester United, James Garner has been touted by many fans as a response to their longstanding midfield problems.
Still only 20 garner He plays the game with skill and composure far beyond his years, which has led him to be compared to club legends Michael Carrick and Paul Scholes.
He was even tipped to play a role. United’s They are the first team to feature Queens Park Rangers away and home to Brentford in their pre-season games.

Instead, it was sent on loan again.
Garner’s time at Nottingham Forest stretching into the second half of last season was largely successful and a major reason why he returned.
“People may try to persuade me, but the decision is up to me and I always had Forest in the back of my head – coming from the back of last season and the progress I’ve made here.” told Nottinghamshire Live.
“There will be people who want me to go where they want me to go! Likewise here.”
While this season has not hit the top of the 2020/21 season so far, Forest’s poor form is a contributing factor and a management change could be an excellent opportunity for him.
Chris Hughton has left, and Steve Cooper’s arrival could be an excuse to call him back to Old Trafford in January.
However, Garner started the first two games of Cooper’s reign before heading to the bench for the international pre-timeout game. He then put on a guaranteed show for England Under-21 on Monday night.
The beginnings will be important for Garner to stay through the lease term, as detailed by the actor’s father.
“Listen. James knows you’re there [is] a callback clause. But I can assure you that James is playing with all his heart and James will give 100% to Forest.” Said as quoted by Nottinghamshire Live.
“He loves the fans and the club and will shed sweat and tears for his teammates. Don’t doubt him.”
Before heading to City Ground, Garner penned for a new deal that would keep him at Manchester until 2024.
With Donny van de Beek’s future in the air and the club in constant contact with central midfielders from Declan Rice to Kalvin Phillips and Wilfried Ndidi, Garner knows that being impressive when given the chance is key to staying in Solskjaer’s plans.
While Nemanja Matic is still the only natural defensive midfielder in the first-team roster, neither Fred nor Scott McTominay have been able to secure the position. There is a clear opportunity for Garner to take on the starting role if he develops what many believe.
The way is there for Garner to match the Carrick and Scholes comparison, and the next few weeks under Cooper will go a long way toward determining United’s next move.
