The Giants’ conversation coming out Sunday probably won’t be about Daniel Jones, and that’s something of a win for the quarterback after last week.
Jones didn’t lose the Giants this gamegoing 16 for 28 for 178 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a prototypical Daniel Jones performance. An odd confluence of factors bit the Giants in this 21-18 loss on Austin Seibert’s winning field goal. Graham Gano was injured on the opening kickoffleaving the giants without anyone being able to kick extra points; Jamie Gillans’ missed PAT plus a pair of failed two-point conversions accounted for the margin of loss. Malik Nabers had a breakout game with 127 yards and a touchdown, then dropped a fourth down late. Sometimes it’s just not your day.
Still, while Jones was more or less pleasant, watching a rookie quarterback drive down the field within two minutes to beat the Giants made you think. that clip from “Hard Knocks”.
Schoen and Bears GM Ryan Poles had a conversation before the Georgia-Clemson opener that HBO’s cameras caught.
