Huge win sends the Razorbacks to Sweet 16

Greenville, North Carolina – Sixth-seeded Razorback football advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championship with a 3–1 win over Utah Valley on Saturday afternoon at Johnson Stadium. This will be Sweet 16’s second appearance in the show’s history for Arkansas.

Parker Goins scored two goals while Kylie Van Gundy scored in a long-range blast to send the Razorbacks to the next round. The Razorbacks scored 13 shots in the afternoon and put seven of them into the frame Arkansas goalkeeper Hannah Warner saved four saves between goal. The three goals the Arkansas team has scored are the second most Utah Valley has allowed in a single game this season.

how did that happen

>> Anna Bodogel sent a ball to the back post and Goins beat her defender to redirect the pass in the 41st minute to open the score. This goal tied Gwens and A. Bodogel is top of the team with seven goals each this season.

>> McKenna Soul pushed high on Wolverines’ back streak and deflected the pass intercepted by Gwens. Goins went on one confrontation with the goalkeeper and fired a powerful shot from the penalty area.

>> Kylie Van Gondy sent the crossbar once from outside the box. UVU goalkeeper rebounds in the back and slammed into the net to take a 3-0 lead in Arkansas.

>> Utah Valley grabbed the board after splitting the Razorbacks’ defensive line and putting a shot into the near corner in the 73rd minute.

The Razorbacks will face the winner (11) Santa Clara / Ohio in the third round on Wednesday May 5 at 8 PM Cairo time. The match will take place at WakeMed Field in Cary, North Carolina.
