Richard Madeley was forced to withdraw from I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here after breaking the show’s COVID bubble to be taken to hospital.

The 65-year-old television presenter was taken to hospital early in the morning after falling ill.

He wrote on Instagram: “Hello everyone! Richard here – at first just to say that I’m absolutely FINE. I started uncomfortably short in the wee hours of the morning and was taken to hospital out of caution.

“By leaving the camp I had broken the Covid ‘bubble’ and as such I had to leave the castle and all the wonderful celebrities who remain in the camp.

“Of course I’m good to leave so soon, but the safety of all the campmates is the number 1 priority. I’m incredibly excited to continue their journey … even more so with the prospect of being a little warmer somewhere such as Gwrych Castle.

“Thank you to all who supported me on my short but completely unforgettable adventure – I made some great friends and honestly had the time of my life.”
