IPL 2021: CSA and CA issue a statement regarding the suspension of the tournament

Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Cricket Australia (CA) released a statement and expanded their support on Resolution 2021 IPL suspended indefinitely In light of the COVID-19 crisis in India. Both governing bodies made clear the path for their players to return to their countries of origin.

CSA has confirmed that they are in touch with all the franchises that South African players are participating in. The South African board also confirmed that players returning from India will have to quarantine their homes after returning to the country. CSA also extended its best wishes to BCCI for taking a decision that safeguards the interests of player safety during an unprecedented period in India.

The Indian Premier League Board of Directors (IPLGC) and the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday that the IPL has been temporarily suspended after several employees and players tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The BCCI has also insisted that the players will return home soon, so it is unlikely that the tournament will resume anytime soon as the situation in India deteriorates with each passing day.

The match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore was rescheduled for Monday after two KKR players tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Even today’s match between the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings has been rescheduled after bowling coach El Balaji, CEO Kassi Vishwanath and the bus cleaner were tested positive. Even Sunrisers Hyderabad Wriddhiman Saha wicket keeper and Delhi Capital basketball player Amit Mishra was found positive for coronavirus today. The situation is complicated as there are talks going on about a future IPL 2021.

Unlike CSA, Cricket Australia has insisted that Australian players and staff will have to stay until May 15 due to travel restrictions the Australian government has insisted on. There will be no exceptions, so the Australian contingent will have to stay in India at least until May 15th. The Australian government has come under intense scrutiny for not making efforts to bring in stranded Australian citizens in India.

Meanwhile, this possibility was previously reported IPL 2021 Resume in Mumbai After discovering cases of Coronavirus in Ahmedabad and Delhi. However, that is now unlikely to happen as the tournament is suspended indefinitely. The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry will have to find another window to complete this tournament.
