A 6-year-old boy is believed to have used a kitchen knife to fatally stab his 2-year-old brother in southwest suburban Joliet Friday night, Joliet police said.
Police found the boy with multiple stab wounds just after 5 p.m. at a home in the 2700 block of Fairway Drive, according to a news release from the police department. The child was pronounced dead at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, police said.
Police said their investigation so far indicates the older boy stabbed his younger brother with a kitchen knife. The child’s family cooperated with the investigation and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services also worked on the investigation, according to the news release.
An identity for the boy was not available Friday night. No other details were immediately available.
