The Packers may have more than a Week 1 loss to worry about.
Not only did Green Bay fall in Brazil to the Eagles, 34-29, but franchise quarterback Jordan Love appeared to suffer a lower-body injury on the final series of the game and limped off the field with the help of the team at Corinthians Arena.
With the ball near midfield and under 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Love looked to heave a deep one but narrowly avoided a kick as the Eagles broke through Green Bay’s offensive line.
Although he was able to lateral the ball for a 4-yard pickup to running back Josh Jacobs, Love went down hard as the Eagles defense surrounded him.
The Packers training staff tended to him as he stayed down on the ground.
He eventually got out carefully and was supported by two employees.
After the game, head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters he was unsure of Love’s status or a potential injury.
“I don’t know. I don’t know,” he told ESPN.
Backup Malik Willis took over for the final two plays, throwing an incompletion before taking a game-ending sack.
Once the players gathered on the field after the final whistle, Love did not immediately rise from the Packers bench, where the Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts met him for a final handshake.
Peacock cameras showed Love being helped off the field and into the tunnel after that moment.
Love, after signing a $220 million contract offseason extension, finished with 260 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the loss.
