Washington — US District Judge Tanya Chutkan has issued a key filing from Special Agent Jack Smith which includes evidence compiled in his investigation into former President Donald Trump’s alleged efforts to undermine the transfer of presidential power after the 2020 election.
Smith submitted the highly anticipated filing on 165 pages under seal to Chutkan last week as part of additional proceedings that took place after the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity earlier this summer.
Chutkan gave Trump and his legal team until Tuesday to respond to the special counsel’s request to make the cards public, with redactions. While the former president resisted Smith’s bid to publicly file the document, she granted Smith’s request to do so and ordered that it be made available on the public filing form.
