Kate Middleton and Prince William have reportedly been forced to reveals that they were romantically involved during a game of “Never Have I Ever”, while in college.
The details come in the wake of a new book from royal biographer Robert Jobson, titled “Catherine, Princess of Wales.”
According to Jobson, when the now-married couple first met as students at the University of St. Andrews in the fall of 2001, was their romance “remained shrouded in secrecy” for some timeaccording to a quote obtained by People Magazine.
“Within the student body, it was an open secret that they were a couple,” Jobson says, adding that the pair often went to class together, shopped together, and spent nights at home listening to music, all under the guise of a close friendship.
During a dinner party that included Carly Massy-Birch, one of Williams’ ex-girlfriends, the group decided to play “Never Have I Ever”.
“Perhaps unwittingly, Carly revealed Williams’ secret love affair with Catherine, much to the chagrin of the prince,” Jobson writes.
Royal biographer Katie Nicholl also recounts the incident in her book The Making of a Royal Romance, writing a partygoer revealed that Massy-Birch declared, “I’ve never dated two people in this room”, well aware that William was only one had, as Kate sat next to him.
This statement left everyone “in shock”, with Prince William “shooting a thunderous look” at Massy-Birch and whispering: “I can’t believe you just said that”, according to a source who spoke to Nicholl.
Despite the initial excitement, Carly Massy-Birch was among the guests who were eventually invited to their wedding, along with several of Williams’ other former girlfriends.
