Kevin Durant: ‘I’m not a role model’ – ProBasketballTalk

Nets star Kevin Durant was ruthlessly mocked for his ashes ankles profane answer on Twitter.

When someone took the exception, Durant channeled Charles Barkley.

Durant is wrong: He is a role model. People look up to him. He may not want to be a role model. But he can not choose to opt out of the status. It exists whether he embraces it or not.

That said, Durant is not obligated to change his behavior because he is a role model. Of course, it’s nice when he thinks about his influence. But it is not the case that a profane tweet is a major moral shortcoming, and there are plenty of examples that he is a good role model.

Seems overly paternalistic to give him a hard time for the original tweet.
