Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump’s stab at artistic expression fell flat on Monday, with online critics grilling her latest song.
Teaming up with singer Madeline Jaymes, Lara Trump released “Hero” as a tribute to first responders. Huffington Post noted first responders were among those besieged during the January 6 attack on the US Capitol by supporters of former President Donald Trump.
“Without your bravery, we’re all out of luck,” evening gown-clad Lara Trump singing into a microphone on a fire escape. “No, this cannot be denied. You must be special.”
The song was released last week, but a the clip went viral on Monday when liberal commentator Ron Filipkowski shared an excerpt on X.
For political strategist and Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson, it sounded like a wild boar and a sack of rusty cans thrown into an industrial chipper.” Other observations ranged from “Autotune is doing a lot of heavy lifting here” to “Every note is a violation of the Geneva Convention.”
“I was just playing Lara Trump’s trash and both my dogs ran in and asked me to shoot off fireworks instead“, social media commentator Tony Posnanski wrote on X.
“My dogs were rough until I turned up the volume to hear the voice,” wrote another user. “They stopped and howled.” Director, filmmaker and political satirist Jeremy Newberger offered a faux-fix with yet another animal.
Lara Trump is married to Donald Trump’s son Eric. It was her installed in his position at the RNC in March. Her songs have included a rendition of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” in 2023, and another single was released in March“Everything is possible.”
