A new link has been discovered by experts between the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine jab and heart disease.

Israeli health officials say the Pfizer COVID vaccine is ‘probably’ linked to heart inflammation in a small number of cases.

But they say there have been only 148 cases out of about five million doses and that the risk from the virus outweighs any concerns on the jab.

The condition is myocarditis, which causes inflammation of the heart.

There are five common signs to watch for:

  1. chest pain that feels like a stabbing or tightness
  2. fast or abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia) that feels like palpitations
  3. shortness of breath, at rest or during physical activity
  4. Fluid retention with swelling in your feet, ankles, and feet
  5. flu-like symptoms such as fatigue

Pfizer said it did not see a higher rate of the condition than the general population expected during its clinical trials, report mail online.

Israeli scientists wrote in their report on the cases: “There is a possible link between receiving a second dose [of Pfizer] Vaccines and the presence of myocarditis in men aged 16 to 30 years.”

But Dr Nachman Ash, Israel’s pandemic response coordinator, said: ‘The efficacy of the vaccine outweighs the risk.’

Israeli reports on the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine jab have emerged as the European Medicines Agency announced that there will be additional manufacturing capacity for the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine as it approves additional manufacturing and filling lines at Pfizer’s vaccine manufacturing site in Prs. gives. , Belgium..
