Karachi: Veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik has opened up on his exclusion from the Pakistan T20 team and revealed that he is still trying to figure out the reason.
The 39-year-old Malik last played for Pakistan in September 2020 in a T20I against England in Manchester.
“I don’t understand why I was dropped from the team. I don’t want to drag the issue. It doesn’t matter how old you are. You must meet the criteria of the team in terms of performance, fitness,” Malik said in an interview with Cricket Pakistan.
“The most important thing is that as a senior player, if you keep the dressing room environment healthy and respect your management and the young players, then nothing else matters.
Malik, on the other hand, is confident of playing for the national team in the T20 World Cup to be held later this year.
“I still believe that I can be useful in the T20 format. I’m not thinking that I won’t play [T20] World Cup, I am still looking forward to participate in the World Cup and give my all,” he said.
