It was a 42-year-old man shot to death in Brooklyn early Sunday, police said.
The victim was shot in the shoulder and arm at a residential block of townhouses on Georgia Ave near New Lots Ave in East New York around 3:45 a.m., police said.
“I heard four shots. No commotion, no screaming, just four shots and I just moved to the back of the house,” said a neighbor who gave her name as Sabrina. “I was already up taking care of my baby and it just happened. It is a good area. I’ve been here a long time. This is a shock.”
Medics took the victim to Brookdale University Hospital but he could not be saved. His name was not immediately released.
Neighbors said there was a party at the house where the shooting happened.
“They’re cool people,” Sabrina said of her neighbors at the home where the shooting took place. “They’re hanging out with each other. They’re cooking and they’re enjoying themselves… They weren’t bothering anybody. This is just out of the blue.”
No arrests have been made.
“It was like three shots I heard. I knew it was shots,” said a neighbor who declined to give his name. “I was just trying to stay in my bed and stay away from it.”
“This area is good,” he added. – I moved here a year ago. Things like this don’t usually happen. It’s the first time I’ve heard that.”
The killing marks the eighth homicide in Brooklyn’s 75th Precinct so far this year, a strong case from the 17 homicides the district saw last year through Sept. 15.
