A man shot while allegedly trying to break into a South Shore woman’s home has been charged with attempted burglary, court records show.
Christopher Grady, 36, was wounded late Saturday night after a woman inside the home where he was trying to climb through a window shot him, according to a police report on file in court records. The woman has a concealed driver’s license, the police say. She ran out of her home and warned Grady she had a gun before shooting, according to the police report
Officers found Grady shot in the 6800 block of South Oglesby Avenue and followed a trail of blood down the block to the alleged burglary scene in the 2300 block of East 69th Street, according to the police report. Grady lives about two blocks from where he was shot and about a block from where he was found, records show.
Police arrested Grady at the University of Chicago Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the right shin.
Grady appeared in court Monday afternoon before Judge Ankur Srivastava, who ordered him held pending trial. He will next appear in court on September 13. Concealed Carrier did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
