Manchester City defender Esme Morgan suffered a broken leg in the women’s Superliga match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Morgan, 20, was carried off after colliding with Spurs’ Ashleigh Neville in City’s 2-1 defeat at Academy Stadium.
City confirmed on Wednesday that Morgan had suffered a broken leg and was “ready for a magic on the sidelines”, as well as being out of the English squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg and northern Macedonia.
City said in a statement: “The defender will soon have surgery on her right leg before embarking on a period of rehabilitation with the club.
“Everyone in City wishes Esme all the best in her healing and will give her all the support she needs.”
