One person was in custody after a 34-year-old man was seriously injured overnight during a fight in the Englewood neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Just before 11:45 p.m., the victim was involved in an argument with another man in the 5500 block of South Wood Street when the person pulled out a gun and fired shots, police said.
The victim was taken by paramedics to UChicago Medicine with wounds to the back and abdomen and was listed in critical condition.
The alleged gunman was taken into police custody and detectives were investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
