MBTA Transit Police do not suspect foul play, the department said in a statement.
A man fell onto the tracks at the Park Street station and died Saturday, MBTA Transit Police said.
The man, who has not been publicly identified, fell onto the tracks at the station’s southbound platform about 12 a.m. Saturday, MBTA police said. The statement said the victim was “unsteady on his feet” and “stumbled” into the pit. He landed on the electrified third rail, according to the statement. Authorities say he died immediately at the scene.
Shuttle buses temporarily replaced Red Line service and all Green Line trains bypassed Park Street while authorities assessed and investigated the scene, MBTA social media said.

A preliminary investigation indicated the victim may have been impaired or intoxicated, the MBTA said. Foul play is not suspected, according to the authorities. A thorough investigation is underway, MBTA Transit Police said.
