A man was shot and killed after a traffic accident on the city’s West Side early Sunday morning, according to Chicago police.
The crash happened around 2 a.m. in the 1500 block of North Magnolia Avenue in the West Town neighborhood. After the crash, police said, the driver of the hitting vehicle fired at the victim, who was outside of his own vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene.
Officers responded to the West Town neighborhood just before 3 a.m., and the victim was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a wound to the right side of his chest.
He later died of his injuries. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office, the victim was a 35-year-old man.
As of Sunday afternoon, officials had not identified the victim and no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting. Detectives are currently investigating.
