Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the right eye when they responded to a call about shots fired on the South Side early Monday, authorities said.
The man, who was between 18 and 22 years old, was in the 5600 block of South Throop Street in the Englewood neighborhood around 2 a.m., according to the Chicago Police Department.
Paramedics treated the victim, who was pronounced dead not long after officers arrived at the scene, police said.
At 5 o’clock, the police did not know the circumstances surrounding the shooting and no one had been arrested, the authorities said. Chicago Police Department detectives are investigating.
