A man is dead after he was struck by a train outside Citi Field Saturday night in an apparent suicide just as a Mets game was about to end, police said.
A train operator saw the man walking on a catwalk and lying on the tracks in front of a southbound 7 train before it could stop at the Mets-Willets Point train station around 6 p.m., police said.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The incident occurred just before the Mets ended one shutout home win against the Marlins.
The incident delayed seven trains in both directions for hours as fans poured out of the ballpark, according to the MTA.
By 8:30 p.m., regular train service had resumed with some remaining delays, an MTA spokesperson told The Post.
The Long Island Rail Road, which also stops at the Mets-Willets Point station, was not affected.
