At a supermarket in North Miami, customers hit a man on the head with a box of sausages after he allegedly hit an employee on the neck multiple times.
Alan Pierre-Louis, 32, from Miami, Florida, allegedly waited outside public supermarketIt took more than an hour for an employee to arrive at work Tuesday, located at 14641 Biscayne Blvd., according to a North Miami Beach Police Department arrest report obtained by Local 10.
Police alleged that Pierre-Louis then saw the victim in the meat department located behind the shop, and quickly walked up to him with a yellow towel and a large knife.
Pierre-Louis is then accused of covering the victim’s mouth with a towel, then stabbing her repeatedly in the neck and right shoulder and slamming her onto a metal display that stores meat items. .
Several witnesses then apparently rushed to the scene, and hit Pierre-Louis on the head with a box of sausages in an attempt to prevent him from stabbing the victim.
Officials said witnesses were able to separate Pierre-Louis from the victim, then the suspect fled the store before being located later in the day.
Local 10 reported that Pierre-Louis attempted to flee the area by following other businesses, but was apprehended and taken to the North Miami Beach Police Department. He called for his right to remain silent.
Pierre-Louis is being held in police custody without bond after being taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment for a cut in his hand. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder.
The victim was admitted to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The police department is yet to confirm the reason for the attack.
CBS Miami reported that police blocked the entrance to the store after the Publix store was closed for nearly three hours on Tuesday.
Customer Anika Cook told the outlet she was “saddened” to hear the news, adding: “It’s a great public[x] To come to the supermarket. Everyone is very nice here. I hate to hear that something like this is happening. I hope he is fine.”
While another customer named Jay said: “It’s terrible. It’s sad. I hope that person is fine.” [… ]It’s a neighborhood grocery store and shopping at a supermarket and getting stabbed is ridiculous. People today need to rest and grow up.”
