A man was shot and killed in downtown San Jose early Saturday morning, the city’s 20th homicide this year, police said.
Around 3:18 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting at a business in the 900 block of McLaughlin Avenue, near the freeway interchange that connects Highway 101 and Interstates 680 and 280.
Upon arrival, police found the man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The unknown suspect fled before police arrived. Authorities are investigating the shooting and declined to provide further details.
The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office plans to release the victim’s identity after notifying his family.
