OAKLAND – A man was shot multiple times Tuesday afternoon in East Oakland, authorities said.
The man was taken to hospital where he was to undergo surgery. He was initially listed in serious condition.
The shooting happened around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday outside a home in the 1400 block of 74th Avenue, a mostly residential area north of International Boulevard.
Police said initial reports were that the man was arguing with another person when another man drove up and started shooting at him.
The person the victim was arguing with fled on foot and the shooter fled in the vehicle before police arrived, authorities said.
Police did not provide detailed descriptions of either person, nor of the vehicle used by the shooter. The authorities have not announced any possible motive.
The section of 74th Avenue where the shooting happened was blocked off while police investigated.
