A man with a gun was fatally shot by at least one deputy at a Sprouts Farmers Market in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday night, Aug. 3, officials said.
Around 9:34 p.m., deputies responded to witness reports of a man with a gun in the parking lot of Vons at Alta Loma Square. The man then went to a Walgreens across the street, where he exchanged gunfire with deputies, said Gloria Huerta, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect then entered the Sprouts at 6753 Carnelian St., when he was shot by deputies, she said.
The man was taken to hospital and later died of his injuries.
Huerta said one deputy had what she described as a minor, superficial injury and was released from a hospital. She did not say how the deputy was injured.
No further details were available. The investigation is ongoing.
