9. Have you ever taken something off the set for yourself?
I have taken from many things black-ish. Of course, with their permission, obviously. I have a Beyoncé poster that was in Diane’s room. I took it home and put it in my glamor room. Some things that I love, Diane loves too. So, like, if I love Creator Tyler, he has a Tyler, Creator poster on his wall. it’s like cute little easter eggs and gems you get to see if you [one of my] Real friends or real fans.
10. From what I read, your upcoming Disney show, Saturday, mostly at a skating rink that plays 90s hip-hop. It certainly feels like a throwback to our millennials. Why do you want to introduce that vitality to the younger generation?
Mostly because skating is such a fire! It’s lit a lot. its [a big deal] in our black community. This is an activity that needs more attention. And then with that, our main character, Paris Johnson, has sickle cell anemia. We really want to shine a light on this because it’s a huge thing in our community as well. We wanted to make sure it was shown in the right light for the right reasons. Like I said before, I don’t like doing black trauma, it’s not part of my point. so [we’re hoping] To talk about positivity and love, and how to bring good energy into something that may seem sad at times, but that doesn’t mean you can’t live your life the way you want to . This is what our main character shows.
11. Which Gen-Z trends are you currently influenced by?
led. Lights. I am obsessed with LED lights.
12. Do you use your own memes IRL?
I don’t use my memes in real life. I should though, but my friends usually do. And I’m like, well, whatever. My favorite meme is actually a video. This is the girl who says, “You’re out of order. Boom, boom, boom, boom.” He’s very funny to me. And it’s all over Tiktok right now. I use it all the time.
