Authorities said they discovered evidence on the suspect’s phone during a border search.
Authorities arrested a man at Boston’s Logan Airport on Wednesday and charged him with possessing and transporting child sexual abuse material.
Kesler Xavier Saget, of Randolph, flew to Logan from the Dominican Republic. When he landed, a border search revealed the illegal material on his phone, a statement from the Massachusetts District Attorney said. His phone allegedly showed that Saget, 43, had paid for the material.
Being convicted of transporting child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years in prison. The maximum penalty is 20 years in prison, five years to life on supervised release and a $250,000 fine. For possession of child pornography, Saget faces a separate sentence of up to 20 years in prison, with the same amount of supervised release and fines.
The statement noted that this case is part of Project Safe childhooda nationwide initiative to combat the sexual exploitation of children.
The representation for Saget declined to comment.
