Alan Stec faces 17 charges related to the road rage incident in Brockton District Court, documents show.
Police arrested a man for an alleged incident of road rage Sunday, the East Bridgewater Police Department said in a statement.
Alan Stec, 61, was driving near 555 Washington Sreet when he allegedly drove another car and tried to hit several pedestrians crossing the road, police said. Police officers reportedly found Stec in a damaged car. Stec refused to stop for police and drove onto a lawn, to avoid collisions with oncoming traffic, the statement said.
Stec then allegedly drove into the backyard of a nearby home and refused to stop the car, police said. He allegedly continued to drive the car behind the house and tried to escape the police on foot. Police said they ordered Stec to stop several times, after which an officer tased him.
Police said Stec allegedly spat at officers after they arrested him.
Stec now faces 17 charges, eight of which are assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Other charges include failing to stop when ordered, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He has entered a not guilty plea, court documents show.
The statement from East Bridgewater police said Stec was being held on $250,000 bond. However, that bail was revoked on Monday. Prosecutors filed an affidavit alleging Stec committed the crimes on Sunday while he was released pending a separate trial. He has previously been charged with willful damage to a motor vehicle, court records show.
A representative for Stec did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
