Almost 50 people in almost a dozen states have been sickened, including one death, as a result of an E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounders, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday.

The authority is working with McDonald’s to investigate which ingredients are behind the spread of the disease, according to CDC. Meanwhile, the largest fast-food chain in the world is temporarily stopping serving onion and ground beef patties in several states, the CDC said.

This is a development story and will be updated.
