Following Ofcom’s decision, ITV said Piers, along with lead actress Susanna Reid, “provided the “balance and context” that “the producers of the show” were “key in mitigating the damage and potential for attack caused by Piers”.
But the 56-year-old said in an enraged tweet: “Hmmm, ITV just made a statement saying I just won the Ofcom case against Princess Pinocchio because my colleagues have expressed differing opinions with mine.
“That’s not what Ofcom said at the end of the report. I suggest ITV read it again.”

She wrote: “I was recently reliably informed that Meghan Markle wrote directly to my ITV boss, Dame Carolyn McCall, the night before she was expelled, demanding my head on a plate.
“Apparently, she wrote to Dame Carolyn personally as they are both women and mothers, emphasizing the sickening play of the gender and birth card.
“What has become of the world when a whiny, forked actress can dictate who will present the morning television newscast?”
