Missing Mass. man found dead under home in South Carolina, police say

A missing Massachusetts man was found dead Monday in South Carolina, authorities said.

Stanley Kotowski was on vacation in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, when he was last seen on 16 Augthe Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said.

Around 11:30 a.m. Monday, authorities in Beaufort responded to reports of suspicious activity at a Hilton Head Island home, the sheriff’s office said in a statement. After investigating, officers found a dead body under a nearby home, the statement said.

Officials say they believe the body is Kotowski’s. He was 60 years old.

An autopsy Tuesday will confirm the body’s identity and determine how the victim died, the sheriff’s office said.

Kotowski’s family of Methuen said Boston 25 News he walked out of their rental and disappeared. He had been dealing with anxiety, they said, although it was unclear if that was related to his disappearance.
