Police have arrested a Moreno Valley woman following a videotaped incident in which a customer at a Hemat sandwich shop steals a tip jar and assaults an employee.
Hemet police said Rachel Marie Williams, 33, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery and second-degree burglary. Williams was held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning in exchange for a $30,000 bail.
The incident took place on May 26 at Jersey Mike’s 719 S. Sanderson Avenue.
In the video, the woman is seen talking to an employee before throwing something at the employee, who throws it back. The woman then picks up the napkins and throws them away before grabbing the tip jar, walks into a refrigerator and helps herself to the bottled drink. After this, the woman pushed an employee standing in front of the door on the way outside the shop.
Police said detectives arrested Williams on Tuesday, June 1 at a traffic stop.
